Poetic Musings

The Last Enemy

I die daily, the toll of death and decay
Fearful of that day where I have my price to pay
Longing to be free from these clothes of mortality
But no hope remains as evil and darkness reign

And yet the sun dawns as I’m told of victory won
no longer a debtor, my price paid by his son
”My son in whom I’m pleased” voice echoes behind a tree
Love dawns as I hope in his Beloved one

Oh beloved one, I am His beloved One,
I am is his Beloved one.

I die daily and to my flesh cry “Crucify!”
longing for the day the final price is paid
Set free from the last enemy, clothed with immortality
Faith finds strength as the Father, Son and Spirit Reign

and the sun dawns as i hope in victory won
No longer a debtor, there is work to be done
”Proclaim liberty!” a voice thunders from eternity
Love dawns as we preach “God, cross & victory!”

Oh beloved one, I am His beloved One,
I am is his Beloved one.

lose your life + gain your soul, lives shine into the night
Freed from a body of death, a body of Christ he shall rise
Slaves are free “Egypt is gone, Egypt is gone!”
Exiles come home, “Fallen, Fallen is Babylon!”

And the son rises as we tell of victory one
No longer enemies, we are heirs with his Son
”Proclaim Liberty!” as the spirit seals eternity
Love wins as we preach, “God, Cross & Victory!”

Oh beloved one, I am His beloved One,
I am is his Beloved one.
